BEAR A GRUDGE

MEANING:- To have and maintain a feeling of anger, bitterness, or resentment toward someone for something they did, especially a wrong that you think they committed against you; Purani dushmani na bhulana; (पुरानी दुश्मनी ना भूलाना)

EXAMPLES:- 

• I really hate family events because my father and uncle still hold a grudge against each other from years ago.
• Mujhe family event bilkul ache nahi lagtee kyuki mere papa aur chacha kayi saalo se ek dusre se naraz hai.
• मुझे फैमिली इवेंट बिलकुल अच्छे नहीं लगते क्योंकि मेरे पापा और चाचा के सालो से एक दसरे से नराज है।

 

• She-Bear a grudge against the judge who sentenced herl
• Use us judge se shikayat hai jinhone use saza sunai thii.
• उसे उस  जज से शिकायत है जिन्होंने उसे सजा सुनाई थीं|

 

• Gaurav still bears a grudge against me for refusing to lend him some money.
• Gaurav mujhse ab bhi naraz hai kyuki Maine usko udhar dene se mana kar diya.

HIT THE BOOKS

MEANING:- To begin to study in a serious and determined way; Bahut mehnat karo; बहुत मेहनत  करो

EXAMPLES:- 

• I need to hit the books this time because it is a big opportunity for my career
• Mujhe padhai karni ki zaroorat hai mere career ki bahut badi opportunity hai.
• मुझे पढाई करनी की जरूरी है मेरे करियर की बहुत बड़ी मौका है।

 

• She is hitting the books at the last moment of the test
• Wo test ke aakhri moment par padhai kr rahi hai.
• वो टेस्ट के आखिरी पल पर पढाई कर रही है।

 

• Now I have to hit the books this time I really need to get in the top 10.
• Ab mujhe bahut jyada mehnat karni ki zaroorat hai kyunki iss baar mujhe top 10 mein aana hi hai.
• अब मुझे बहुत ज्यादा मेहनत करने की ज़रूरत हैं क्योंकि इस बार मुझे टॉप 10 में आना ही है।

 

• I will hit the books, it’s a very important presentation for the company.
• Mai bahut jyada padhai karunga kyuki ye company ke liye bahut zaroori presentation hai.
• मैं बहुत ज्यादा पढाई करूँगा क्युकी ये कंपनी के लिए बहुत जरूरी प्रेजेंटेशन है.

 

• Board exams are quite close and all the students are hating the books now
• Board exam nazdeek hai aur sabhi student Mann laga kar padh rahe hai.

DRIVE SOMEONE UP THE WALL

MEANING:- Make someone very irritated or angry.Bhut jyada pareshan karna; (बहुत ज्यादा परेशांन करना)

EXAMPLES:- 

• Sometimes my kids make a lot of noise and it drives me up the wall.
• Kabhi kabhi mere batche bhut shor machate hai aur ye baat mujhe bhut zyada pareshan kar deti hai.
• कभी कभी मेरे बचे बहुत शोर मचाते है और ये बात मुझे बहुत ज़्यादा परेशान कर देती है|

 

• My neighbor’s cat muse all the time and it drives me up the wall.
• Mere padosi ki billi meow meow karti rehti hai isse mai bhut pareshan rehta hu.
• मेरे पडोसी की बिल्ली म्याऊ म्याऊ करती रहती है इससे मैं बहुत परेशान रहता हु.
