Subject Verb Agreement Part – 5

SUBJECT-VERB AGREEMENT PODCAST

Without a verb, you cannot make the sentence
I am going (here going is action but here I am is not action, in this sentence am is a verb)
Action is also a verb but a verb is bigger than action to make any sentence.

When we want to connect two stuff then we use prepositions, conjunction, but if the subject will connect directly to the object then we use a verb, when in a sentence have an action then you can use helping verb it depends on the rule. for every sentence, there is a different rule but in a sentence, if action is not there then we use the linking verb. let’s talk about a little part of the verb that is linking verb:-

Linking verb:-

Linking means to link something that means ‘combine’.It works to combine any sentence.
.if in sentence action is not happening then the verb is included. some times action is included in the subject but sometimes we need a helping verb. for eg if we have ‘ing’ then we need is, am, or are. but if we have 1st form or 2nd form then we don’t need is, am, or are.

If we have not then we need to do, did, or does. if there is a 3rd form then we need to have it.in action there is a lot of confusion. linking verb is so simple. when in a sentence there is no action then something will be there and that something is the verb. In object, we have state nature, quality, identity. if in sentence action is not happen then the verb is included.

EXAMPLES:-

  • I am Paras. (Here am is the verb and its identity)
  • Mai Paras hu.
  • I am smart (quality)
  • Mai smart hu.
  • I am sick. (state)
  • Mai bimar hu.
  • I am shy. (nature)
  • Mai sharmila hu.

There is only one rule for these sentences there is no need to put ‘ing’ because there is no action here.

Linking verb has three parts:-

  1. To be
  2. To have
  3. To seem or feel

EXAMPLES:-

  • I have five rupees. (have works linking)
  • Mere paas panch rupee hai.
  • You seem nervous
  • Tum nervous lag rahe ho.
  • I feel nervousness
  • Mujhe ghabrahat ho rahi hai.
  • I feel anxious or I am anxious.
  • Mujhe chinta ho Rahi hai.
  • Sonu is excited
  • Sonu excited hai.
  • She seems upset
