Paragraph Reading
Read the following shopping guide carefully. Look for the "hidden" details.
When you enter a supermarket, you are surrounded by colorful advertisements and discount banners. To be a smart shopper, you must read beyond the large bold text. For example, a sign might say "Buy One Get One Free," but underneath it, there is often a small note that says "on selected items only." This means the offer does not apply to everything in that section.
Another common phrase is "Up to 50% Off." Many people think everything is half-price, but the word "up to" means that most items might only have a 10% or 20% discount, and only a few items have the full 50% off. You should also check the "Unit Price" on the shelf labels. Sometimes, buying a larger "Value Pack" is actually more expensive per gram than buying two smaller packs. Lastly, always look for the "Best Before" or "Expiry" date on the back of the packet. Supermarkets often put items that are about to expire at the front of the shelf to sell them quickly. Reading these details carefully helps you get the best value for your hard-earned money.
