Walking into a large international airport for the first time can be a very overwhelming experience. The Departure Hall is usually a massive space filled with thousands of travelers, heavy luggage, and loud announcements. To stay on track, every passenger must learn to read the FIDS, which stands for Flight Information Display System. These are the large digital screens that hang from the ceiling or stand near the check-in counters.
The most important detail to look for is your Flight Number, such as AI-102. Once you find your flight on the screen, check the 'Status' column. If it says 'On Time,' you have plenty of time to relax or shop. However, if the screen displays 'Final Call' in bright red letters, it means the gate is about to close, and the airline will not wait for anyone. You must move toward your assigned Gate Number immediately. Some passengers might feel confused if they see the word 'Delayed.' This simply means the plane will take off later than planned, perhaps due to bad weather or a technical repair. Staying calm and reading these signs carefully is the secret to a stress-free journey.
